ABOUT US
The Legacy Center
The Legacy Center (TLC) is focused on advancing health equity, justice, and liberation for sexual and gender minoritized (SGM) and all communities through education, research, and community engagement. We are dedicated to creating knowledge – not simply about SGM communities – but about our whole society, encouraging us all to learn about one another. TLC challenges the belief that our differences divide us; instead, our differences create endless opportunities to relate to one another. TLC endeavors to cultivate power, leadership, equity, and health justice for SGM and all communities.
We envision A liberated and just society where all communities can enjoy optimal health, and live happy, full, vibrant lives.
No One Asked Us
No One Asked Us is a community-engaged research study that uses PhotoVoice to amplify the voices of sexual and gender minoritized young adults of color. Using photography, participants examine how extremism and oppression impacts their everyday lives and how they create joy in spite of it.
We curated this online exhibit to show how our communities are actively engaged in joy making in the face of extremism. You are invited to take in these stories. As you reflect, we hope you will find connection.
Through public education and discourse, we hope this PhotoVoice exhibit sparks dialogue, an essential building block to developing respect, finding common ground, and valuing differences in all our communities.
What is
PhotoVoice?
Photovoice is a participatory action research methodology that shifts power from researchers to participants’ themselves. Participants invite us into their everyday lives by taking photos to frame the topics most important to them and narrate their own stories.
