This picture shows a hand holding a gold chain necklace in front of a printed picture of a couple. In the individual's hand, there is a pride pin, colored heart, and the chain with a ring and baby shoe charm hanging off it. The hand depicted here is my own and the people in the picture are my parents before I was born. Before transferring [here], my mother gave me this gold chain. It originally had my grandmother's ring and my baby shoe charm on it. Since then, I have added a heart charm with bisexual colors to it. I suppose this chain represents my identity in perspective of my family, like how I am still a baby girl in their eyes and how I am deeply connected to my mother's mother. Looking a bit closer, I am strategically holding up the chain that visibly shows my shoe charm and ring to my parents, but hides the pride pin and heart charm from their view. I have not come out to my parents and extremism has affected that journey and my decision to keep quiet.
