This is a photo of an artwork I did that displays faces of asian women and it essentially explores the beauty in the often discriminated asian facial features, such as slanted eyes. This artwork addresses the stereotypes Asian people are subjected to and how we’re often told that we look alike or we have “exotic features”. This further dives into the fetishization of Asian women in particular and how Asian women are desired because of said “exotic features” and the stereotype that Asian women are submissive and timid. This is a concept that many Asian women face currently and we usually have to be wary of men and their intentions. It also highlights the importance of self-worth and confidence in ourselves because discrimination towards our facial features can be very harmful to mental health.
