This photo showcases Pad Thai, a stir-fried rice noodle dish complete with a orchid flower to compliment the presentation. I took this picture while I was eating lunch at Kiln, my favorite restaurant. Eating my favorite meal, from my favorite cuisine and at my favorite was, of course, a joyful experience. Food sparks joy in a way nothing else really can, as it not only satisfies your taste buds, but it also nourishes you and provides essential nutrients you need to survive. Eating food you love, not caring about anything beyond how it makes you feel is important to having a truly positive relationship with food. As someone who has struggled with restrictive eating, it is hard to internalize this message. Yet, when I eat something so good like Pad Thai at my favorite restaurant, I am able to see that food is meant to spark joy, not something that should make us feel bad.
